Plumbers checked against public registers
Every business here was checked by name against a public register, and the outcome recorded with its source and the date we read it. Nothing is self-reported.
What a plumber must hold — and who may issue a Certificate of Compliance — is decided by the municipality, not nationally and not by a professional body. We read the Plumbing Industry Registration Board's register across the country. In eThekwini no Certificate of Compliance is required on transfer, but the Water By-law allows only plumbers registered with the City to do installation work, and PIRB registration does not satisfy that. The City keeps that register but does not publish it, so Attest cannot yet check it. How to read a plumber listing
